I just became eligable for 401k at my current company. At previous companies i simply filled out a form to asses my "risk tolerance", etc and they simply suggested a few predetermined allocations and i just chose one. My current company has their 401k through Great West Retirement Services (gwrs.com) and not only do i have 20 different funds to choose from (fidelity,russell, columbia,etc) i have to choose the specific percentage to distribute my money. Resolved Question: Is there a reason for panic?

I have a 401K account under an employee savings and protection plan managed by Great-West Retirement Services. My company matches up to 3% of what I contribute which is 6%.
My account allocations are 60% aggressive and 40% moderate.
In the last two years I have done fine with these allocations but the markets were more stable than today.
With the uncertainty of a recession should I continue as aggressive or should I put my money on a Stable Value Fund?

I work for a County Government in New Jersey. I have a pension (police & fire retirement system) that I've been paying into for the last 12 years. Just for added security, I also started a 457 (deffered comp) plan. I was told that I only had 2 choices/fund manager/company that were avaible to me - 1. Valic Retirement Services or 2. Great West Retirement Services. That just doesn't sound right, shouldn't I be able to choose any service that I want? Or does it have to be the two services that th
