In the state of Georgia, what are the laws about selling your house and moving into a nursing home, does the nursing home have the right to take that money for selling your home?
The house was sold way before these people were put in a nursing home, In the state of GA, We were told that anything sold after Feb 2007 is considered to be made repayed to the nursing home. Am an ordained minister. Have masters of religious philosophy, and Ph.D., Auburn University; M.A., West Georgia College, and B.A., Berry College. Ministerial experience is at a small church, nursing home, and prison.
My hope is to have an internet ministry (have name ready) to post short sermons, make prayer requests, give away tracts and Bibles, and promote Good News of Jesus Christ. Would accept donations, so the ministry could survive.

I have a friend who just moved to US from Ghana and has a green card. She came with her 3 kids, 5, 4 and 1and half year olds. She really doesn't know where to start and I can't help much because I have no kids. She wants to make Georgia her home. My mother passed away June 19th 2007. Both my mother and father placed me as their executor in their wills. But I am just now finding out that there is alot more at stake here than what I thought, shouldn't their lawyer have told them what would happen? My mother named herself as "Trustee" of her home and myself and my siblings are on the deed to the house. She needs to go into a nursing home and was denied Medicaid because they claimed her house as an asset. I was told that she has no legal claim on the house and her court appointed (lawyer) guardian was unable to sell the house on her behalf.
