Voting Question: Should Government workers have Social Security as their retirement package?
(Sun, 11 Jul 2010 04:22:34 GMT)
Currently most government employees get a much better retirement package than do the rest of us. If they work for 20-30 years in government they retire at somewhere around 90% of their salary (congress is even better). Then the government borrows from social security, doesn't pay it back, so they raise the retirement age or reduce benefits at will. Not so with their own packages, however. And they don't pay social security taxes. Unless of course they work another job during their career in wh

Okay, so I work for a state agency. The states budget is in dire need of help. Our legislators are morons (most are). So the state is requiring their employees to 1. take a pay cut. 2. Increase deductions for a required participant retirement system, meaning they are taking more out of our paychecks, without us having the option. 3. This is the worst, take unpaid days off (furloughs). So here is what im getting at. Because I work for the state, we are required to do certain training(s) that ar

Resolved Question: As Europe goes bankrupt, are young Europeans beginning to see the moral bankruptcy of their own welfare states?
(Wed, 26 May 2010 21:40:42 GMT)
It appears that more and more young people are growing resentful of the fact that so much of their earnings will go toward unrealistically generous pension plans for the older generation. Because this Ponzi scheme is unsustainable, they realize they will never get a turn at the trough. As Robert Tracinski points out, their systems all place their workers into "a particularly twisted cannibalism in which a society is programmed to eat its young."

A recent US NEWS report on Yahoo pointed out the following:
"If all earned income above $106,800 annually were subject to Social Security contributions but did not count toward benefits, Social Security's projected deficit would be completely eliminated. If the higher income counted toward Social Security benefits, about 95 percent of the shortfall would be absolved."
What this did not factor in, was that a vast amount of income is not subject to SS taxes. Investment income, where a person

Consequently, the U.S. government cannot lawfully, under the U.S. Constitution, compel any American citizen to participate in any benefits, retirement, insurance, national health care or welfare program.

In a time where unions have proven themselves to be self fulfilling, it is time to eliminate them within education.
Why you may ask? Simply put education cannot achieve parody with the rest of the market. They pay outrageous amount to labor costs, which by the way, is set by prevailing wage. The education unions make it impossible to get competitive pricing and have held districts hostage all in the name of “it not good for the kids”. What would be the advantages and disadvantages of doing this?
There are people who believe that the age of retirement should be reduced

Accounting
Not everyone knows what career choice they would like when they are young. I on the other hand, am pretty sure I know. I want to be an accountant. While searching though the BERS booklet of rules, I found
the following information on page 88 quoted below. I would
like someone to explain the quoted paragraph below. I have
not contributed to BERS for the simple fact that I
