First Wave: Expiration of 2001 and 2003 Tax Relief
In 2001 and 2003, the GOP Congress enacted several tax cuts for investors, small business owners, and families. These will all expire on January 1, 2011:
Personal income tax rates will rise. The top income tax rate will rise from 35 to 39.6 percent (this is also the rate at which two-thirds of small business profits are taxed). The lowest rate will rise from 10 to 15 percent. All the rates in between will also rise. Itemized deductions

Open Question: FICA on 401(K) withdrawals?
(Tue, 31 Aug 2010 23:05:33 GMT)
FICA is taken out while contributing towards 401(K), so at retirement or during early withdrawal, do I need to pay FICA again?
Thanks.
My assumptions:
1.There will be a federal tax at withdrawal (early or at 59.5), depending on how much I withdraw.
2. There will be a state and county tax.
Please be detailed about your answers, as some of the answers are vague or misleading and it will help everyone else.

Does anything change (reduction in pay grade, GI Bill, retirement) and are there any USAF-specific benefits I would lose? Is this a decision best made early in my career (I have seen ex-Army & ex-Marine NCOs who lost stripes when the went Air Force) Also, will my CCAF still be honored as a legit Associates Degree? Resolved Question: How is Alaska and Hawaii pension plan different from contiguous 42 states?
(Fri, 27 Aug 2010 16:25:55 GMT)
I'm not necessarily talking about the pension plans for public/government employees. I see that there are "private" companies in Alaska that offer pensions with full benefits starting as early as 58 (they don't indicate there is a tenure requirement), and exemption from Social Security participation (which is good for someone of my age group as federal government can't be trusted to pay Social Security by the time I retire). Here in contiguous 48 states, as everyone knows, private pension p

(Thu, 26 Aug 2010 21:28:18 GMT)
My wife is 57. She has worked for a local authority for over 30yrs, then for the last three years or so when her section came under a housing association. They wouldn't let her take early retirement, as she isn't due to retire until she's 63.
She was so fed up with the job, that she packed it in this week. I was told that she could claim her state pension (or part of it) as she is over 55yrs old. Others say no.
Does anyone know if she can or not please ?

Resolved Question: reason for kaval dropping tna's name on nxt season 2, what's your opinion?
(Wed, 18 Aug 2010 16:22:44 GMT)
Tuesday night on WWE's NXT program, Kaval slipped in a not-so-subtle reference to TNA in the middle of his opening-segment rap. While shooting a direct stare into the camera, Kaval declared that he is "the only reason for some total non-stop action" on NXT.
Make no mistake about it, that was a deliberate message to TNA. It was Kaval's way of telling TNA management they missed an opportunity to utilize him when he was in TNA.
Kaval had two runs in TNA, his last ending in late 2007/early 2008.
