Open Question: Don't want to go back to work after I have the baby.?
(Fri, 03 Sep 2010 01:50:03 GMT)
I am a wife and mother of three children and 31 weeks pregnant with our last (and final) child. My husband and I both work full-time. I am on my husband's insurance so the only thing I pay out is for my short term disability. I plan on working until I'm 38 weeks pregnant. I will get 12 weeks FMLA unpaid, but I can use my STD while I'm on leave. I do not want to go back to my job after I have the baby. I also will have 3 weeks vacation time before I go on leave. My question is when do I have to

Resolved Question: Questions about your decision to be a working mom/SAHM?
(Thu, 26 Aug 2010 20:20:57 GMT)
Basically I'm just curious about how you (and your husband/partner) made the decision to be either a working mom or a SAHM.
Also, if you're a working mom: Do you have any plans to eventually be a SAHM? Perhaps when you have more children?
SAHMs: Do you have any plans to eventually go back to work? Like maybe when you're done having children and they are all in school?
For me, going back to work was absolutely necessary. My pregnancy was unplanned and even the 7 weeks of maternity leave I t

Resolved Question: NC Disability types of insurance and financial help?
(Wed, 25 Aug 2010 20:25:21 GMT)
My father recently had to go on short term disability in order to have a total hip replacement. Since then he has had another injury from his surgery. He could only get short term disability for 6 months. It has been almost six months and can't go back to work because the dr's have not released him yet. His profession requires him to do a lot of climbing, crawling, etc. so more than likely he wouldn't be able to back. My mother is unemployed. They will not only his disability but also their in

Resolved Question: My grandma is having trouble with her diabetes. Help?

She is 63 years old, and a type 2 diabetic. For the past day or so, her blood sugar has dipped into the 40's, when it's usually in the 130's. The medicine she's been taking for it is Duetact(100mg), which I think is in the same family as Actos. About 2 weeks ago, she had major abdominal surgery(removing infected hernia mesh) and has been on a slow but steady recovery. The new drugs she's on for that are Vicodin, Xanex, and Clindamycin(an antibiotic)

Voting Question: Not returning to work after giving birth?
(Fri, 20 Aug 2010 16:09:42 GMT)
My wife recently gave birth to our first daughter. Originally she had all intentions of returning to work after her birth, but there have been a few complications that have made us change our minds. My question is, can her employer require her to repay the insurance premiums that they paid on her behalf, and what about the short term disability she received, would she be responsible for paying it back? We live in a "right to work" state by the way.

He does work, full-time, as a server/assistant manager at a restaurant that he has been employed at since he was senior in high school (going on 8 years ago). He makes decent money at this job, probably more than he would if he used his degree, however, there are no benefits, no guarantee of a specific wage (he works for tips) AND we racked up over $40,000 in debt (college

Resolved Question: I bought long term disability insurance?
(Wed, 18 Aug 2010 20:06:02 GMT)
I bought long term disability insurance, I was hurt at work and denied workmans comp. I filed a claim with the short and long term disability. I was approved for state disability, and they paid me back from the time I was hurt. Now the long term disability wants their money back. I also have a law suit against the workers comp insurance. Shouldn't the long term disability only get their money back if I win the workers comp. case?

I currently have Aflac benefits which are short term disability and accident. I do not have the Hospital confinement plan. I honestly thought it was part of the Accident and/or Short Term Disability plans that I already have. Resolved Question: Can you get short term disability insurance if you work less than 30 hours a week?
(Thu, 15 Apr 2010 04:16:17 GMT)
I want to get short term disability insurance but I only work 24 hours a week and everyplace I look into requires you to work at least 30 hours a week to be eligible. There is no option at this time for me to pick up extra hours at my job in order to get to 30 hours. Does anyone know of any insurance company who does not require 30 hours of work each week in order to qualify for short term disability coverage? Can you combine hours from 2 separate jobs to reach the 30 hours if needed? Any help
