Resolved Question: My former mother in law wants to claim my children on her tax return. How can I stop the harassment?
(Fri, 05 Feb 2010 13:27:29 GMT)
My former mother in law thinks I should let her claim my children as dependents on her tax return as well as claim their exemption. I told my former mother in law HELL NO! After all the crap you put me through last year, your lucky I even let my children talk to you. This woman is unbelievable.
At my husbands wake, she said and I quote, "When am I going to get MY 50%, of MY sons life insurance." I told her then and there she only getting 10%, and the rest was for me and MY children. She exploded with anger, and told me that she would sue me for her 50%. He didn't give it to her, because we have I have 3 children.
Then in December of 2009, she tried to get custody my children. She claimed I was keeping her from seeing them. When in actuality I had made 7 offers in 2009, for her to come here to AZ to see my children. Plus I had records of me sending emails, pictures, and correspondence between me and my former mother in law. Heck I even offered to pay for flight, hotel, and a rental car, and each time she said, "Bring my grandchildren here." Well that was not going to happen. My son is in year round school, and my twin girls are to little to travel.
Besides that, I have 2 jobs, and I'm going to school myself. Oh did I also mention that on monday she informs me in an email, that she's going to be put on permanent disability, and she expects me to pay off her $37,000 of debt? Because she says "I'm greedy with HER sons money." My former mother in law received $40,000 last February, and that was more then enough money to pay off her debts. Why does she think she gets more?
Now it's her "brilliant" plan to ask me to claim my children on her tax return. That's never going to happen. UGH! I am so tired of her! How can I stop her from harassaing me? I the ONLY reason why I allow her contact with me is because of my children. I want her to have a relationship with them, but it's getting to the point, that I don't want her to have any communication with me or my children.
I need help please.
My former mil does not my childrens ssn. all she knows is their birthdates.
Oh I've been saving the communication between her, and me for years. The judge in the custody case advised me to not allow her access to my children. It came out in court, that the only reason why she took me to court in the first place, was to gain control of my childrens trust funds and my retirement accounts and college fund.
She's a greedy hag! Heck, in her complaint she even wanted child support. Never gonna happen. I've got my ducks in a row!

Voting Question: What am I to do, disabled daughter will not have medical insurance after this month....?
(Fri, 16 Oct 2009 18:08:23 GMT)
She is on SSI because of her disability. Because of this she receives medicaid. Well when they cut her SSI they will also cut her medicaid and she can not get insurance I can't even get a quote because of all her preexisting conditions. So what can I do. My child has to have insurance but no one will give it to her. I think we are going to make too much money to get medicaid without SSI. We live in Florida if that helps. I am seriously considering moving out of the country but don't want to have to do that but I really don't know what else to do.
Have any of you been in the position? I know some of you may say cut back your hours at work so she can keep the SSI but I am sick of not being able to make good money. My husband had to turn down a job making over $60,000 a year because of this. There has to be an alternative....
They are cutting her SSI because we make $400 over the cap they have
Some of you just don't get it. We would have to make millions a year to cover all her medical expenses. And we did ask the co he was going to go work for and someone he talked to said that their insurance plan would NOT cover preexsiting conditions
The least expensive med that she has to take is a little under $300 for 2 weeks. Now lets include 10 more costing more than that. This is not including her supplies, doc visits, and god forbid any surgeries that she may have to have. Not to worry ENGLAND here we come

Voting Question: Question about Short Term Disability & Maternity Leave?
(Wed, 05 Aug 2009 15:58:27 GMT)
So, I work for a small company (5 employees) and they do not currently offer short term disability. I am interested in getting it, as my hubby and I plan on getting pregnant within the next few months. I just raised the question at our company meeting this morning and I was told to send the owner an email to look into it. His email is a black hole of nothingness so I don't expect to get anything done that way. So I have started filling the whole "Send me a quote" things on the website to have them sent to myself. What I need from you guys is some info/feedback which companies do/don't offer the following:
1) Maternity Coverage
2) At what % of income
3) for how long? (6 week normal, 8 week c-section?)
4) how long did you have to be a policy holder for before you were covered
5) is this through your business or personal.. and if you can tell me how much that would be awesome
And for any of you insurance agents out there who may read this, we're located in Pennsylvania and looking for any reasonable quotes you may be able to offer.
yeah so if i saved $200/month until i got 3 months worth of salary built up we're looking at me not getting pregnant for 5 years, so I'd be 36 so thats really not an option.
Also - I've already had one c-section and plan to have another, so im not sure how a giant gash across my abdomen after major abdominal surgery doesn't count as a disability especially if my doctor says I'm not allowed to drive for 6+ weeks, and my job is all driving.

Voting Question: Jay Leno, "Exhaustion. That's like a rich person's condition. Poor people that workâthey don't get exhausted."?
(Sun, 03 May 2009 10:00:46 GMT)
What is this quote! Male ego or just inconsiderate! The middle and lower class gets "Exhausted". More than he will ever know. We have to be caretakers of our children when we are younger, parents when we are older ourselfs and caretakers of our possible incompetent siblings whom have no one to care for them. Plus I am having to work at least until I get Medicare to pay for my medical insurance, then when and if my husband does pass, I get the honor of living only on his social security check, no retirement pension. We spent all our home equity because the housing industry, including his disability put us out of our homebuilding business. We have A1 credit, but we are too tired to relive our lives over again. Stuck in a rut, with DHS parents, whom can't care for theirselves. "Exhausted", it happens to the BEST OF US! I'd rather be Exhausted with M-O-N-E-Y than without.
Correct, "ourselfs" to "ourselves". Caught it the first time around, just a mishap.

Resolved Question: Can I get short term disability insurance to pay my mortgage if I have to have knee replacement surgery?
(Fri, 11 Apr 2008 06:04:11 GMT)
My doctor says I need knee replacement surgery and I will be out of work at least 3-4 months in rehab. Is there any type of insurance I can get to cover my mortgage payments. I have insurance that covers my credit card payments but not insurance for mortgage. My job will pay me part of my salary while I am out, but it won't cover all my expenses. I have little to nothing in savings. If I can get this insurance how would I get a quote and how long would it need to be in effect before I can collect from it? Estimated, how much would it cost per month for the coverage?
Thanks Zajjo for the link. I will go there and look right now.
Jo Mo, when is enrollment season? My job is as a plant manager. I walk around 90% of the time. I need both knees replaced. Thanks for your post!

Resolved Question: Term Life Insurance at age 21?
(Fri, 17 Aug 2007 18:10:56 GMT)
I am 21 and I was wondering if I should purchase a $1,000,000 term life insurance policy through USAA. I received a quote for $42.19 (and an additional $11.66 for waiver of disability) and the premium is guaranteed for 30 years.
Do I need this policy at my age? Also, should I get the Waiver of Disability for $11.66 more per month?
All answers are appreciated!
More info:
I am married
No children
No debt (except car payment)
Thanks!

Resolved Question: Ballpark estimate of disability insurance premiums?
(Tue, 01 May 2007 14:04:23 GMT)
My husband's employer does not offer disability insurance and we are looking at getting a simple disability plan from our private insurer State Farm. I would just like to know roughly how much premiums are for this kind of dis. insurance. I've looked online, but you have to enter all kinds of personal information before any company (whether insurance or quote finder) will send you any info. Seems like putting a big sign on my email and screaming "SPAM ME!"
So just curious what other people pay for this. My husband is 28, non-smoking, not overweight, and is healthy. He's a high school teacher.
