Voting Question: Worried about upcoming DHS Redetermination meeting. What do I say?
(Sun, 05 Sep 2010 22:07:16 GMT)
I am a single mom with 2 kids; the youngest is disabled. In my divorce, my ex agreed to pay the mortgage instead of child support. He lost his job almost 2 years ago and couldn't pay the mortgage any longer. House went into foreclosure but my kids and I are still living in the marital home for now since it hasn't sold at auction yet. My children receive Medicaid due to my income status and my son's disability. I took my ex to court to get child support a year ago since he wasn't paying the mor

Resolved Question: Single mom on EI sickness benefits - is there more assistance available?
(Fri, 30 Jul 2010 16:16:48 GMT)
I am a single mother of 2 children who recently became sick and unable to work at my current job. I've 'never' been without a job, so this is all new to me. Since my employer does not have short term disabilty, I had to go on Unemployment Insurance sickness benefits. The amount i get from them is less than 1/2 of what my regular salary was. I have a mortgage payment, property taxes, hydro, gas, telephone, and other expenses that my now very limited income doesn't cover. I've had to ask 'fa

Resolved Question: Unsecured Credit Card Debt Insurance?
(Mon, 05 Apr 2010 01:51:22 GMT)
Is there a company out there that insures unsecured credit card debt for banks that issue credit cards, or does the bank issuing the credit card take on the whole debt, eventually write-off the unpaid balance, then sell the unpaid debt to a collection agency? I’m not talking about some type of insurance a consumer can buy in case of unemployment, disability or death. This would be insurance that the bank has in place. I'm guessing there’s no such insurance since banks are carrying large am

Resolved Question: Should I ask him to sign an agreement?
(Wed, 24 Mar 2010 18:14:10 GMT)
My boyfriend & I have been together for 6 years. Lived together for 3 years. We lived in crappy apartments for 2 & a half years. We had been saving our money like crazy to be able to afford a house. We weren't 100% ready but the night our landlord or the police did nothing about the druggie losers upstairs bought a gun to our front door we knew it was time to get out & get out fast. We called a realtor the next day not expecting to find anything. But we found a 2004 house that was up for sale.

Voting Question: If you have lots of insurance, is an emergency fund really necessary?
(Fri, 04 Dec 2009 20:20:23 GMT)
We have employer-sponsored insurance, specifically: medical, dental, life, and AD&D. The medical and dental are COBRA-eligible. We also have auto, home and umbrella insurance, and will soon be purchasing individual life and disability policies. Additionally, if we lost our jobs, there would be some severance pay or unemployment. We also have a 3-mo. emergency fund. We pay our credit cards off every month. Our mortgage et al. loans account for 22% of our spending. Do we really need this

Resolved Question: Help me decide what to do to feed my family please!?
(Mon, 21 Sep 2009 21:49:36 GMT)
This is the real deal. My husband is a general contractor and has been out of work for almost a year. We can no longer afford our overhead expenses like business liability insurance and advertising and now have to let the business go under and let his license go inactive. Although he is a very talented and well-referenced carpenter--there is simply no work in our geographic area--we live in the highest impacted construction job-loss area in the country. He cannot file for unemployment beca

Voting Question: How can I help brother get back on his feet, with no extra income of my own?
(Fri, 06 Mar 2009 15:36:33 GMT)
My brother was in an accident almost two years ago, his arm was broken. After the cast came off, he still had problems with the wrist. In fact you can actually see the bone move at the wrist joint because it is like it is not attached. He lost his job of seventeen years because he couldn't get back to work before the six month's FMLA protection expired. He lost his health insurance, exhausted his vehicle insurance, cashed out his retirement, spent it all living (and I mean just day to day exp

Resolved Question: Will I qualify for mortgage modification?
(Thu, 19 Feb 2009 13:10:50 GMT)
Will I qualify for mortgage modification under the terms in the new Bill?
I am current on my payments. How ever the way I currently understand the terms. One must have been responsible and paid payments on time. This has not always been the case with me. For years I always paid on time till my husband came down ill and was out on short term disability (STD) last year. Then when he returned to work he was demoted from management to a line worker. His wages cut and double garnished to pay

Resolved Question: Home Insurance Coverage In California?
(Tue, 20 Jan 2009 02:43:53 GMT)
We are new at purchasing the home insurance. (we plan to buy a house)
We call the Progressive Insurance and request a quote for the house insurance And we also do some online quotes.
All it cover basically the house part.
We heard that they will cover the disability, life if spouse died the insurance gonna paid off the mortgage, unemployment they gonna paid for 1 year etc.

Resolved Question: What companies offer mortgage insurance/protection for unemployment?
(Tue, 23 Dec 2008 20:15:31 GMT)
I'm looking to obtain mortgage insurance/protection on my home in the event either my husband or I lose our jobs. Just something that will pay the monthly bill until a new job is found. I see a lot of sites offering it and a lot more that just offer protection in the event of disability or death. Are there any companies that are recommended for this?
