Resolved Question: What grants/loans/assistance am I eligible for as a disabled student with a TBI (at Grand Valley State)?
(Mon, 22 Jun 2009 16:45:39 GMT)
I am a student at Grand Valley State University as of this Fall in Allendale, Michigan. Currently, I am looking into student loans to help with my financial situation (which sucks because the insurance company hasn't been paying for anything, yet), but I was told by my case worker to contact the University to ask about any programs available for students with disabilities.
I contacted Career Services, Human Resources, Student Employment, and Disability Support Services, and didn't get much in

Voting Question: What to do if employer favors family members and friends over regular employees.?
(Thu, 18 Jun 2009 02:58:43 GMT)
I work for an Insurance broker who owns a family owned business. I have worked there about a year now and didn't realize that so many family members and friends of the family worked there. Well needless to say, she basically favors these friends and family members. One daughter and her husband can come in any time they want, not come in at all and still get paid salary. While the regular workers have to work eight hours a day and be willing to work a little overtime without pay if it is ne

Voting Question: I need help becoming a financial advisor?
(Wed, 06 May 2009 01:33:37 GMT)
I want to take the series 6 and series 63. I think that will give me the ability to sell 401Ks. Thats what I want to focus on. Most firms I have interviewed with want me to sell life insurance, long term disability, etc. All I want to do is sell 401Ks. And I would like to do this independently. (Independent Broker) The problem I have is getting sponsored to take the test with out going to work for a firm. Is it possible to get sponsored as an independent broker, take the necessary test, and se

Voting Question: Should I buy from an agent or a broker for disability insurance?
(Fri, 10 Apr 2009 04:39:23 GMT)
Hello! someone told me that I should always buy from an agent from an insurance company (assuming that I've already made up my mind that I want to buy from that company) from the perspective that because if there's ever a claims dispute, and a question is raised about whether the underwriting was correct, it's more credible for me if I had gone with an agent because in that case it'd be the insurance company that's made a mistake because it was their own agent who sold me the insurance and ap

I have a 2 yr degree in Associates of Applied Sciences (Accounting), but burned out as far as accounting. I have a license to practice Massage Therapy, and am the state test short of having a Real Estate License (would have to find a broker &

Resolved Question: Guardian disability insurance questions?
(Tue, 24 Jul 2007 22:10:16 GMT)
Is this a good policy? My broker says it's better than Aflac because it's non-cancellable and lasts until I'm 65 should I need it. He said that as a white-collar professional, long-term disability ins is important for me which I can understand since I need to protect my income. He gave me a health questionnaire to fill out. I'm not totally comfortable filling it out - is it standard to fill one out and do a physical exam and bloodwork like they want? If I take this policy, does this long-t
