Resolved Question: We are about to lose everything because of an accident. What can we do?!?
(Mon, 02 Aug 2010 20:50:22 GMT)
Long story short: Boyfriend was rear-ended on motorcycle over a month ago & was injured (full surface burns & neck/shoulder injuries) HE had no insurance but the guy who hit him does. We filed a claim with that ins. co. and also retained an attorney for a Personal Injury case. MY QUESTION IS - when will the insurance company start paying his lost wages & medicial expenses? I know that an actual "settlement" could take YEARS possibly, but what about in the meantime? Our attorney told us that th

Voting Question: Refusing to pay life insurance claim, who should the family sue?
(Sun, 09 May 2010 05:42:51 GMT)
My employer has a third party administrator for our life insurance plan-basically they collect our premium and pay it to the carrier. In October, 2009 our life insurance changed to another carrier-not by our request. We had an employee on long-term disability before the change. We have a waiver of premium clause; however for reasons undetermined it was never applied for. My employer paid the premiums for this individual for the life of this employee-first to company #1 and then to company # 2

Resolved Question: I was terminated while on short term disability what are my rights. Now they are not wanting to pay it.?
(Mon, 05 Apr 2010 20:06:49 GMT)
Everything has been approved through April 16 until things are updated from the specialist when I go back the 12th. They company initiallyy paid the 1st six weeks of disability now I've been waiting on a check for the last 4 weeks. They are now telling me that they only had to pay 4 weeks because I was not with them a year. But they have waited 7 weeks to tell me that. Why did they pay 6 weeks if they only had to pay 4. Everything is approved with the short term disability insurance company. B

(Fri, 11 Sep 2009 04:48:32 GMT)
My wife and I were able to successfully appeal our LTD denial. We also won our Social Security denial without a lawyer.
But that leaves open what happens afterwards, what options do I have when the private insurance company behaves unprofessionally by harassing, lying, and constantly threatening you by "reviewing your disability status", month after month, considering new paperwork old because it took them weeks to get to it, etc.?
Some examples:
**Refusal to give me my policy, they had to

Resolved Question: How do I find a great lawyer in a specialized branch of law in another state?
(Wed, 27 May 2009 01:41:11 GMT)
My long term disability benefits were cancelled after 14 years because the insurance company cherry picked two "good" visits I had with the psychiatrist this year (meaning, I wasn't on the verge of suicide for once). It turns out that group long term disability policies fall under the federal law called ERISA and disability law under ERISA is a very, very specialized branch of law. Moreover, I have to get an attorney in the state where I became disabled (I live in Minnesota, I need a Californ

Resolved Question: Is there some one or a committee I can complain to about a poor performance by my attorney?
(Sun, 05 Mar 2006 23:59:38 GMT)
I have a very good claim against the insurance carrier that carries my companies Long Term Disability insurance. They have denied my first claim as we expected but have given us 90 days to ask for an appeal. It has been 60 days and my attorney has done nothing because he is handling the case Pro Bono and he says since he is not sure how much money will be claimed he is just going to apply for the appeal at the 90 day mark. The only glich in them denying me my payments is because my attorneys f
