Open Question: Why doesn't Congressmen and Senators have a set retirement age?
(Fri, 19 Mar 2010 04:37:18 GMT)
I do not understand why age limits do not apply for some Government employees.I think Congressmen (also Congresswomen) and Senators should have a mandatory retirement age. When they do retire, what is their retirement pay? Is it the same as all other Federal employees? If not, I think it should be. I understand that congressmen(women) and Senators have a medical plan different from other federal employees. That they have dental and vision automatically. Why?Aren't they Federal Employees?,and therefore should have the same rules and regulations as other Federal employees?

Open Question: Are there some risks in Muay Thai body conditioning?
(Fri, 19 Mar 2010 03:54:51 GMT)
I am currently studying Muay Thai, started in October until now. I've heard that there are some things to consider when conditioning for Muay Thai. Some risks that I've heard of are in the future when the practitioner is about 50s-70 and older (around retirement and senior age) they may experience health problems due to having a solid body from training in younger years. Is it true that conditioning the body, knees, shins, and elbows may result in health problems in the future?

Open Question: I want to upgrade my 6 hours of studying to 9, is that unhealthy?
(Fri, 19 Mar 2010 03:35:08 GMT)
Unlike most people in college, I am aiming for a 4.0 GPA in my bio-chem. So far I have a 3.6, and I am competing with other pre-meds. I don't waste my time on useless socializing, dating, etc. and I need that 4.0. So, would studying 9 hours a day be pushing it or would it help me greatly? I cover a great workload during my study time. I spend 3 hours taking in raw information and then understanding it by doing equations with next 3. But it seems that isn't enough as 3.6 is still not good enough. I sometimes feel as if I'm losing my mind, but I figure there will be plenty of rest during my retirement.

Open Question: Enlisting soon (possibly) and wondering about retirement...?
(Fri, 19 Mar 2010 03:17:33 GMT)
So I'm thinking about enlisting (Have to choose between Navy and Air Force) and as it goes right now I would like to be able to stay stationed in Japan once I finish my four-year infantry circuit. Is that a possibility, or is there anyway to go about doing it? I would like to live in Japan, but prefer to still be an active member of the military until I'm ready to retire for good. If you know anything on how this words, I'd appreciate the info: According to the recruiter I talked too, only the Navy has a retirement base in Japan; Air Force only has an infantry base ~ Not really sure on the details of it all. Thanks for any assistance.

Open Question: Top this joke!Retirement Bonus! If your is funnier, easy 10 pts. I am looking for funny jokes!?
(Thu, 18 Mar 2010 23:20:52 GMT)
The Navy found they had too many officers and decided to offer an early retirement bonus. They promised any officer who volunteered for retirement a bonus of $1000 for every inch measured in a straight line between any two points in his body. The officer got to choose what those two points would be. The first officer who accepted, asked that he be measured from the top of his head to the tip of his toes. He was measured at six feet and walked out with a bonus of $72,000. The second officer who accepted was a little smarter and asked to be measured from the tip of his outstretched hands to his toes. He walked out with $96,000. The third one was a grizzly old Captain who, when asked where he would like to be measured replied "from the tip of my penis to my testicles." It was suggested by the pension man that he may want to reconsider, explaining about the nice checks the previous two officers had received. But the old Captain insisted and they decided to go along with him providing the measurement was taken by a medical officer. The medical officer arrived and instructed the Captain to "drop 'em," which he did. The medical officer placed the tape measure on the tip of the Captain's penis and began to work back. "My God!" he suddenly exclaimed, "Where are your testicles?" The Captain calmly replied "Vietnam." * if you find this funny

Open Question: Do you watch Wrestling in Kayfabe or watch it like an insider?
(Thu, 18 Mar 2010 22:31:43 GMT)
I'm curious to know, an example would be Sheamus, do you think Sheamus will win because it's his time or because he's buddies with HHH? I think being an insider, like HBK has an article discussing retirement so he must be losing at Wrestlemania, is kind of detrimental, because we say there are no surprises and it's boring but seek these tidbits of information (spoilers, top contributors who claim to know how wrestling works) out. Maybe we know to much and should watch it from a kid's standpoint, who still believes in the magic, smoke and mirror, and pageantry of wrestling. They could care less why Kofi is being buried now or why Michelle McCool is not over, and neither should we. How do you watch Wrestling? Do you watch the real or the fake aspect of it?

Open Question: Please tell me This IS NOT true !!!?
(Thu, 18 Mar 2010 20:59:22 GMT)
Shawn Michaels is telling his friends that he will be retiring at (or after) WrestleMania. HBK has been quoted of saying that he wants to spend more time with his children. This though is not just a rumor. Many facts back this up such as his contract which is set to expire soon and the fact that he is not advertised for any show to be held after Wrestlemania. Last year, Shawn said, in a radio interview, that he had given WWE his retirement date which close to this year's WrestleMania. In the same interview, he said that he might continue wrestling even in his fifties, but only a match or two per year. This match will probably be the least predictable in WrestleMania as The Undertaker has been rumored to quit his career because of an injury in his knee which apparently seems to be serious enough to require a minor transplant.

Open Question: What do you do with the lump sum of money once you've accumulated it....to create steady income (retirement)?

Open Question: WHEN can I RE-retire?
(Thu, 18 Mar 2010 18:36:31 GMT)
Ok, this is for Californians only. Hope someone knows. I have an app't with CALPERS in June, but really want to know this beforehand. I've researched online and called, and if no one here can answer my ?, guess I have to wait until June....My question is this - I retired from a CALPERS job in 2006. In 2009, I reinstated from retirement to accept a position at a community college (CALPERS)....now, less than a year later, there is a very good chance I will be getting laid off, if not this year, maybe next year and I refuse to deal with the stress on not knowing....so, do I have to be vested here at the college (I've looked in the union contract, it is vague) meaning I have to work 5 years, or due to the impending layoff, can I just apply to CALPERS to re-tire once again whenever I wish? Because if I can, I am leaving asap. The lack of the CA budget is wreaking havoc with colleges and the program I work in is on the chopping block..thanks

Resolved Question: Since HBK is retiring at Wrestlemania should he and undertaker have the last match?
(Thu, 18 Mar 2010 18:22:38 GMT)
Shawn Michaels has been telling friends as of late he plans on retiring at WrestleMania. His contract is set to expire soon and he has talked about wanting to spend more time with his children as they grow up. Michaels himself has made noise about retiring in recent years, to the point that WWE actually scripted jokes about it on Raw. After taking time off in 2008, he made noise about deciding not to come back. Like previous times he'd taken time off, WWE would call him back to return and he would. He also said in a radio interview last year that he had told the company his retirement date (which at the time was this year's WrestleMania). On the other hand, he's brought up the idea of wrestling well into his fifties, though only a match or two per year. Michaels is not advertised for any shows past the night after WrestleMania when RAW emanates from the US Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Open Question: Need Advice on Mom-in-law and Father-in-law issue...?
(Thu, 18 Mar 2010 17:31:50 GMT)
Partner faints and shatters leg, almost dies during surgery, life support for three days, continues passing in and out of consciousness for three weeks. His parents say, when released from hospital for third time, "He's coming to our house to recover so you don't have to take any more time off of work." I'm beyond grateful, of course. Partner now on short-term disability (50% of normal pay) as his Drs won't clear him until they can figure out why he's been passing out. We've batted around ideas to pay them back for their help and consideration while he's been at their house for the last three weeks. Then, two days ago, his dad wakes him up and says "You owe us $290--fair market value for the food you've eaten, the phone calls you made from our cell phone, and things of that nature." I'm not sure how to respond to this, and needless to say I'm having a hard time not feeling outraged, not only because they OFFERED, but they DEMANDED that he recoup at their house, handed him their cell and said "Use this to make calls, that way Jay can have his cell in case we need to get a hold of him," and generally poo-pooed any thanks we gave them and nice things we tried to do for them during this 3 week time... And NOW they want money? FIL gets a social-security check, a retirement check, AND an unemployment check every week, MIL refuses to work ("It's not my thing"), they are in their 60s enjoying a very nice lifestyle and considering buying a 2nd home in the south just for giggles, so I know this request isn't a money-issue as they have plenty to go around. I just don't understand where this is coming from or how to handle this. The nice things we have done (laundry, dishes, paying for take-out at least three times during those weeks, little things around the house to contribute what we could) and I was going to offer them money anyway, but to have it demanded like that after they OFFERED? I'm at a loss... We've been together 10 years now, and although interactions have always been brief (holidays, the occasional dinner, what have you) I've known they simply "tolerated" his life (the fact that they kicked him out and didn't speak to him for 5 years when he first came out is simply "un-talked about") but politeness has tended to be the unspoken rule, but now... Any advice on how to approach them or this situation would be greatly appreciated...

Resolved Question: what's my ailment? please help?
(Thu, 18 Mar 2010 11:51:41 GMT)
i've posted this in health category but there's still no reply. i'm desperate for an answer so i posted it here. here goes. i'm in a foreign country away from my family. i'm in my early 40's. medium built. doing 50 push-ups every other day. been here for 7 months now. smoking at least average of 10 sticks a day but gradually removing it out of my system (guess it's too late). i started feeling pain in my right ribs 4 months ago and i thought it was only muscle pain or the weather then (8 degrees C) and it was tolerable then. i haven't had any accident. then the pain escalates now to the point that i cried and i'm shouting in my pillows because i don't want to be heard by my co-workers adjacent to my room. i don't want to go to hospital for fear that the result will lead to my early retirement. i couldn't afford to go home early because of our present economic plight (i still have to pay a lot of debts back in my home country and my family still needs remittance) and i'm almost sure that the result would be serious. recently, sores on my right ribs appeared and the pain is almost unbearable especially on nighttime. i virtually could not sleep when it attacks at least thrice a week. i could still work though, in each and every attack. just tell me what's causing this pain. professional opinion please. i really don't want to go to a hospital. and i'm ready to endure this. i just want to know what is it or better yet, how much time do i still have. thank you.

Open Question: Creating pension options , for indian?
(Thu, 18 Mar 2010 10:58:30 GMT)
I am 42 from india and with good income currently to invest for my years of retirement. I am not able to decide what time of retirement option i study try--Some suggestions from friends are as follow Invest in balance funds via SIP for few years, later redeem them and buy an annuity from LIC Buy a combination of LIC policies that gives you some return every year after few years. Invest in equity funds via SIP and due to long run of more 10 years , it will generate good return. can you suggest any better option to work out.??

Open Question: Now that the top user (The Dragon) of this section believes.....?
(Thu, 18 Mar 2010 10:06:06 GMT)
that the streak will be over this year, I e-mailed him about what was his predictions for Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels this year and he replied: "Because there has been no real evidence, or even strong rumors, that HBK IS going to retire (that I know of), I think The Streak will be over at this year's Wrestlemania. There has been a lot of speculation, and hearsay, that Shawn MIGHT retire; there have been a lot of people thinking that Shawn is "getting too old" and "too banged up". A lot of people are thinking the same of The Undertaker, too. But no real evidence that Shawn is going to retire. Going out at Wrestlemania would be fitting for Shawn, but not as a loser in the same type of thing they did at Wrestlemania 24 with Flair. A lot of fans WOULD call it a "copycat" retirement, and Shawn deserves better than that. My gut feeling is The Streak will end this year." My question is, when such an experienced guy thinks that the streak will be over, why don't you?

Resolved Question: Is research gonna prove this wrong?
(Thu, 18 Mar 2010 06:52:24 GMT)
The Third World can only remain colonies if their attention and energy is channeled towards fighting each other. This is why the French, the British, the US and the Fourth Reich Zionist Entity are the first suspect in every terror attack. A short History of their criminal record: 1950’S The British SAS Battalion was composed only of military personal that tan easily and thus pass as Arabian Muslims. THEY KILLED AND HATCHED TO DEATH THOUSANDS TO JUSTIFY BRITISH PRESENCE (COLONIAL PRESENCE) 1970’S The Phoenix project in Vietnam consisted of covert CIA terror attacks targeting civilians of towns and villages suspected of supporting communism. The US and the puppet government would then blame the communists for this terrorism to “WIN HEARTS AND MINDS”. 1980’S JOHN NEGROPONTE AND COLONE STEELE organized a CIA terror Operations against the innocent people of El Salvador. Since El Salvador was Catholic, they decided to call the attacks on a shadow organization they called Battalion 316. The name was used to demoralized the people of Central America and justify US presents (Imperial objectives) 1990’S THE FRENCH FOREIGN LEGION KILLED 100,000 INNOCENT CIVILIANS IN ALGERIA. In every Massacre, the puppet government officials would blame the attacks on the Islamic party that had won 80% of the votes in the 1991 election. As in Joss, Nigeria the government forces would arrive on the scene late enough to give the French terrorist time to escape. The French Foreign Legions also used the British tactic of dressing like Muslim Arabs before attacking. 2000’S The Iraqi resistance was humiliating the US. Bush called for the “Salvador Option” (New York Times, 2004). Brimmer and General John Abizaid refused to become terrorists and thus were pushed to the side. Bush made John Negroponte US ambassador to Iraq and he brought Colonel Steele out of retirement for one last Butcher Fest. In his first week, John said he has evidence that Al Qaeda was now in Iraq. With the fake AQI as his cover and Blackwater on his payroll, Negroponte and Steele KILLED OVER 600,000 INNOCENT PEOPLE TO DEMORALIZE IRAQ’S AND BLAMED IT ON ISLAM. 2010’S BLACKWATER IN PAKISTAN The FRENCH FOREIGN LEGION IN CHAD AND DARFUR ISREAL’S KASHAFA BRAGADE (ETHIOPIAN JEWS) IN NIGERIA US FUNDING TERRORIST IN SISTAN, IRAN

Open Question: DIVORCE- SHE WANTS HOUSE?
(Thu, 18 Mar 2010 04:18:16 GMT)
My wife and I have been married for 20 years. Last year I intercepted text messages between her and another man. Five months later she asked for a divorce. We have NOT had a perfect marriage and I certainly admit that I could have been a better husband. I have a career that has consumed my life and I fully understand that I put more emphasis on career than flowers and romantic weekends. However, I sincerely thought that she was fully understanding and appreciated the income that came with the hours at the office. Several years ago (2005) we purchased a 2nd home as an investment for $500,000. Within 3 years it was valued at $875,000. I chose to sell it and take the profit and place securely in the bank. She begged me not to sell the property and I agreed to keep it. Now that property is worth about $375k. My wife comes from a family with money that was inherited recently from an uncles passing. Early on she told me she did not want to hurt me. She said she just does not love me any longer. She said that she was not going to touch my retirement, 401k. Well, I fell for it and got her divorce proposal today and guess what....yeah, now she wants her half of each. In addition, she wants to stay in the home WE purchased together. However, the house in in OUR names (both she and I). In addition, the second home is in both names. She has a new job making about $2K per month. There is not a bank in the world that is going to allow her to refinance. Here is my issue: She wants to keep the house but keep it in my name until she becomes financially fit. Due to our current economic state, I think this could be years. We have two kids (10-14). I do NOT want them uprooted from their home. However, I feel very vulnerable and I just don't think it makes good sound sense to allow her to stay in the home in my name. Especially when SHE asked me to leave after being together for 23 years. I am now in a runned down 2 bedroom apartment. Our house is 3br, 3 bath and is very nice. Again, I don't want my kids to be the victims here but I'm scared to death that if I allow this she'll do something like not make the payments (her income clearly does not substantiate this ability). I told my lawyer I'd give her 6 months to either find a bank to refinance, or sale the house and find a cheaper home/apartment until she gets herself on track. My attorney says the judge will probably not allow this as he'll think I'm just trying to "punish" her for leaving me. I'm totally not doing this. I just don't have the stomach to give her any more ability to destroy me any further. What do you think?

Open Question: Assistance with the unemployment insurance on my credit card?
(Thu, 18 Mar 2010 04:06:00 GMT)
Here is the story: The company I had worked for, for nearly 20 years was bought out and the new company laid off over 80% of the employees. The severance package I received and my vacation "buy out" totaled nearly 7 months. During the last month I worked, the company brought in people from the state unemployment office and job assistance programs to meet with those being let go. During that meeting it was mentioned that people who receive severance packages etc may not be immediatly elligable for unemployment benefits. There were two "waves" of employees who went out before my "wave" went, and I was hearing from some of those, that because of the size of their severance package they were being told they did not qualify yet and wait till the severance package ran out. Then I heard the nightmares they went through when they reapplied. When I left with my packages, I opted to not go through what they went through. Frankly, with a package that equalled almost 7 months, I wasn't expecting to be unemployed that long. I had never been unemployed for more than 6 weeks in five jobs I had over nearly 25 years. I had always been able to find work quickly. One time I wasn't even without work long enough to receive my first unemployment check. After 7 months I was still unable to find a job and the severance package ran out, so I filed for unemployment. During this time I was faithfully paying my bills. When I decided to file for my credit card insurance is when all hell broke lose. I called the company, was told they don't deal with BofA anymore. I called back, oh yes they handle BofA, but I'm not on the list. I call BofA. BofA gets angry and calls themselves. They get the same runaround... first told they don't handle it, then when the lady at BofA said "Um, I AM BofA!!" The lady on the other line said "Oh, let me transfer you to the people who take care of that" Then that person said I'm not on the list. The lady at BofA said BULLSH*T (yes she did). Then I was miraculously found. They sent me the paperwork. I filled it out and sent it back. They lost the paperwork and wouldn't accept a copy of my copy. So I refilled it out. They declined me saying I didn't file for unemployment within 30 days. I got pissed. By this time, I had to move and couldn't deal with this, while looking for work and a place to live. When I got settled again, I called BofA. at that time my intent was to find out how much I paid over the years and atleast try to get that money back. BofA wasn't happy with what I went through, so they tried again. Again we went through the same situation... They don't handle BofA, oh you're BofA, yes we do, that person is not on our list, oh, wait yes she is. You should have been approved, we'll resend the paperwork. Again I filled out the paperwork and again I was declined. What are my options at this time? Do I have any legal recourse? Is this even legal? There are extrenuating circumstances for everything and these people don't seem to acknowledge them. Frankly, I feel by the way they tried to sneak around saying they didn't handle that account and then saying I wasn't on their list, it's as if they are trying everything possible to not pay up. I have prided myself on keeping my credit in good standing. To get this monkey off my back and not knowing what exactly my future was, I opted to take money out of my retirement savings to pay it off. But they still should reimburse me. I paid them... for years. This is not right. I appreciate you reading my story and appreciate any assistance and advice you can offer.

Resolved Question: Breaking News:HBK retiring?
(Thu, 18 Mar 2010 03:29:02 GMT)
Michaels is not advertised for any shows past the night after WrestleMania when RAW emanates from the US Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona. http://www.ewrestlingnews.com/stories/Report_Shawn_Michaels_Retiring_After_WrestleM.shtml

Open Question: How do I tell her how I feel?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 21:10:24 GMT)
I began working at a retirement community a few months back and I was placed as a "Friendship Nurse" which basically means that I go around and play games and talk to our patients. There was this one woman who I have since fell madly in love with. The only thing that is holding me back is our age difference. I am 17 and she is 94. I think she feels the same way about me but i should I go about telling her.

Open Question: I am retiring in CA in 18 months. House is upside down by 100k. If I file b-ruptcy, will I lose my 401K?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 19:49:44 GMT)
I am retiring at age 62. I have about 100,000 in 401. I owe 320K on a house that is now only worth 220K and about 40K in CC debt. I was planning on working until I was 65 to pay off the CC debt and hope that the market stabalized, but my health has greatly deminished. I must retire and mvoe out of CA. I think my only option is to file ch7 and let them have the house. My wife and I both have 7 year old cars that are paid off. I am really only worried about my retirement. I will be drawing about 1700/mo in Social Security to live off of. I am just trying to get ahead of this situation that I see coming. I am open to all advise. -- Thanks --

Open Question: Where to Invest for Retirement?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 17:15:44 GMT)
Hello, Im 20 years old and plan to invest in Roth IRAs very soon, as well as opening up a 401K with my company. However, Roth IRAs and 401ks, from my understanding, penalize you if you pull out money before youre 59. I intend on retiring at 40. Where should i pool in my money if i dont want to be penalized? Should i start learning the ropes of the Stock Market, or is there a different Retirement plan i can look into? Thank-you!

Open Question: Traditionalist neighbor is freaking?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 16:14:53 GMT)
Friends with a neighbor, we talk sometimes when our kids play together. She is a happy SAHM of two boys, 14 month old and 6 year old. I know she's very religious and a traditionalist...women should stay at home, men should make the decisions/be head of house holds ect. We have had discussions about such before(with untamed biting her tongue a lot...I like her and her kids, but very much disagree with her on many issues). Well after 12 years in the military her husband has decided that he has had enough, he turned down his reenlistment option. He announced this over dinner a few days ago. So he is going to finish up his time, about another six months then go get a job in a similar field as a civilian. So her head of household made a decision and she is panicking, thought they would be a military family for another eight years at least, then they would have his retirement pay and life long health care. She's worried about their future, him finding a job, health care(there youngest has some serious health problems) where they will live ect ect But the thing that really bothers me about this...is her husband didnt talk about this her first, he made his decision and announced it. She says thats how it's done. It is his career...he has every right to be happy in his career and make changes if needed....but shouldn't major life changing decisions be discussed between a couple prior to making the change? How common is this in traditional couples? (I get the impression from her, that she feels guilty for being worried and upset...that others wouldn't approve of her distrust in her husbands decisions. She even said she couldnt talk about this to her relatives and friends from church hence why she ranted and "cried" on my shoulder instead) I really dont get how this power structure could ever lead to or be a successful relationship.

Open Question: Can anyone tell me the point of putting Career vs Streak on HBK vs Taker II (details inside)?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 15:18:09 GMT)
Ok, I believe everyone dead and live knew even if HBK loses he will be back by summer like nothing ever happened. Why people bought the possibility of HBK retires if he loses is beyond me. This match got interference by HHH written all over it. One reason I truly don't think HBK will retire is this: If he's done, that means the last few months of his career were spent acting like a psycho, destroying DX on a very anti-climactic note, and alienating himself from everybody else. So he acts like a mad dog, attacks referees and random people, and then suddenly the locker room comes out to give him an ovation for his career? I don't see it happening. I think when he retires we'll get at least one more HBK/HHH match for old time's sake and probably a few other last hurrahs as well. Since when a retirement match means something in WWE? Savage won the WWE title a year after his. Funk wrestled after his. Hogan wrestled after his. And for the love of God, Ric Flair just wrestled last week after his! When this feud turns out to be HHH vs HBK all along, Taker's involvement will be forgotten like a loser.

Open Question: Personality disorders?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 14:52:02 GMT)
Sam is hyper-vigilant and anxious, anhedonia and dysphoria and doesn't like sex ( thinks it's a waste of time. ) He is consistently and repeatedly victimized by his clients, for instance. They take credit for his ideas and leverage them to promote themselves, but then fail to re-hire him as a consultant. Ani is serving time in prison, He looks completely puzzled and disdainful when I ask him why he did what he did. "For the money, of course" - he blurts out impatiently and then recomposes himself: "Had this panned out, these guys would have had a great retirement, far better than their meager and laughable pensions could provide." Can he describe his typical "customer"? Of course he can - he is nothing if not thorough. He provides me with a litany of detailed demographics. No, I say - I am interested to know about their wishes, hopes, needs, fears, backgrounds, families, emotions. He is stumped for a moment: "Why would I want to know these data? It's not like I was their bloody grandson, or something!" Ani is contemptuous towards the "meek and weak". Dal is an attractive young woman but seems to be unable to maintain a stable sense of self-worth and self-esteem. Her confidence in her ability to "hold on to men" is at a low ebb, having just parted ways with "the love of her life". In the last year alone she confesses to having had six "serious relationships". Dal likes to "live dangerously, on the edge." She does drugs occasionally - "not a habit, just for recreation", she assures me. She is a shopaholic and often finds herself mired in debts. Mark sits where instructed, erect but listless. When I ask him how he feels about attending therapy, he shrugs and mumbles "OK, I guess". He rarely twitches or flexes his muscles or in any way deviates from the posture he has assumed early on. He reacts with invariable, almost robotic equanimity to the most intrusive queries on my part. He shows no feelings when we discuss his uneventful childhood, his parents ("of course I love them"), and sad and happy moments he recollects at my request. Mark veers between being bored with our encounter and being annoyed by it. How would he describe his relationships with other people? He has none that he can think of. In whom does he confide? He eyes me quizzically: "confide?" Who are his friends? Does he have a girlfriend? No. He shares pressing problems with his mother and sister, he finally remembers. When was the last time he spoke to them? More than two years ago, he thinks "I would like to be normal" - says Gladys and blushes purple. In which sense is she abnormal? She prefers reading books and watching movies with her elderly mother to going out with her colleagues to the occasional office party. Maybe she doesn't feel close to them? How long has she been working with these people? Eight years in the same firm and "not one raise in salary" - she blurts out, evidently hurt. Her boss bullies her publicly and the searing shame of it all prevents her from socializing with peers, suppliers, and clients. El-Or's real name is George. He changed it as a result of an epiphany he experienced at the tender age of 9 when he encountered an alien spaceship in his back yard and "in all probability" was abducted by its crew. Can't he remember for sure? It's all kind of fuzzy, but ever since then he has had numerous out of body experiences and has developed psychic capabilities such as clairvoyance and remote viewing. "I can see that you don't believe a word of it." - he declaims bitterly - "You probably can't wait to tell the other therapists here about me and have a good laugh at my expense." I remind him that therapy sessions are strictly confidential but he nods his head sagely: "Yeah, sure, whatever you say, Doc." El-Or, wounded by my skepticism, lapses into his own private language: "The locust days are here and the wise shall behold and not see, hear the deafening and yet not be lifted." Can he help me understand what he just said? "Your crown is naked, councillor, 'tis there to fathom and yours to cling to. All your kind shall perish if you forsake not your mind's cage." In other words: I better believe what he tells me and give up my prejudices - or I shall be rendered obsolete and dispensable when the time comes. El-Or firmly believes that Earth is about to be overtaken by alien species. They are already here, scouting the land and choosing who will be "lifted" and who will "perish". Many adepts have defected to "their" side and are collaborating with the aliens in the subjugation of Mankind and the ultimate conquest of our planet. El-Or, though, has decided not to betray his kind. His self-assigned mission is to warn of the impending doom and save as many "enlightened" souls as he can. Hence his irritation with my attempts to puncture holes in his scenario. These are just a few cases I need some help with. You have have to answer the questions that are asked in the message just help me Identify the disorders. Tha

Open Question: How do you trust again and go on?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 14:41:11 GMT)
My boyfriend of 11 yrs, live with me and my two teens. It was understood I never wanted to marry, but I always told him I was planning my life with him. Retirement, etc. Well, I found out that he's been writing to TONS of women online from all dating websites, craigslist, yahoo personals, etc. Everyone! After reading these emails, I feel like I totally don't even know the man anymore. And on top of it all, he even tried to "hook up" with a woman for a drink the day one of my newborn grandson's died! He's been there for me, and my daughter and now he says he's sorry, won't write women again, and that talk is cheap and he never actually cheated. But I don't believe him. He's been "writing" for at least 5 yrs. that I found. What do I do? He asked me to give him a chance, but can I?

Resolved Question: What advice do you have for me regarding this situation?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 12:09:19 GMT)
My brother in law who lives on the opposite coast got himself into major financial trouble. My husband wants to give him a loan of which we can barely afford and which I am reluctant to give b/c his brother is used to the "good" life and does not seem to have learned any financial lessons. Case in point: He bought an iphone when he pretty much lost everything. He had 2 impractical vehicles (big truck & leased BMW - expensive townhouse - top of the line stuff in the townhouse - etc.) We don't know the loan amount but that he can pay back $200 a month. We've had creditors call us b/c he owes them money. He owed the state taxes. I don't feel good about this at all. We can barely afford it so I have to tell my husband that whatever we give - we have to be prepared to take it as a loss. I have loaned money to friends and have not been paid back. -- What kills me about this is that his brother in law is absolutely ignorant when it comes to finances. He wants to impress. He is depressed that his life is the way that it is but he doesn't seem to connect the dots. He was overspending his means by a huge amount. He blames others. He was a bit mean to his ex-girlfriend - making snide comments about her inability to afford a BMW like him. He also made remarks to his brother and me - indirect really about how we weren't living it up like him. His brother also slept with my husband's ex-wife. At the time - from what I've been told - he didn't seem to get that what he did was wrong. -- I'm just beside myself. I need some advice. Please be kind. Can you see why I'm not feeling good about lending this guy money? It would be different if we could afford to but we really can't. We have already been sacrificing and cutting back for years. We have built up a savings in case we hit a rough patch. I don't even think he has a retirement savings and he's not that far from 40. He wants his own place. I say that he should try to rent a room from someone (house) or see if he can stay with someone from work temporarily. He doesn't have a vehicle. He lost his vehicle b/c he's still stupid with finances and paying bills. I don't think he's stupid. I think he's ignorant and closed. He has a good job. Ironically, he is a finance manager. He also does sales. But he's making a lot less. What he sells is highly cyclical - dependent completely on the economy. Shouldn't he have seen this coming? Thank you. I will talk to him. My husband knows how I feel. We've talked about it before. My husband was almost in the same position. I got him out of it. He told his brother that - so why his brother isn't coming to me for some advice - I don't know. Maybe embarrassed but I already know. I have experience in finance professionally. My parents taught me money management early on. By saying no, does that make me seem insensitive and cold? I don't think so in this case b/c of the circumstances. He got himself into this mess. Before everything fell apart - I did advocate for savings and not spending it all before it was earned. I don't think so in this case b/c of the circumstances. He got himself into this mess. Before everything fell apart - I did advocate for savings and not spending it all before it was earned. I don't think so in this case b/c of the circumstances. He got himself into this mess. Before everything fell apart - I did advocate for savings and not spending it all before it was earned. I just did. I said "no". I was brave. It's hard to say no. But you know - forget him. Who buys an iphone when you don't need it b/c he already had a smart phone? Isn't a place to live and a car to get to work a bit more important? He has no kids - no wife. He should be able to afford himself. He had at least 2 gaming systems. Xbox - PS3 - etc. Flat screen tv - etc. etc. We don't even have that.

Resolved Question: What is the state retirement age and pension of old folk in France and Germany compared to the UK?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 07:29:32 GMT)
...... compared to the UK, currently set at 65 and drawing around an estimated £100 per week, but age to retirement will rise, even if the Conservatives win the election.http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8294251.stm As the UK is now in the EU, and as the EU like to HARMONISE everything, shouldn't retirement ages also be harmonised? Open Question: I'm up @@@@'s creek without a paddle....How do I cope knowing what will happen?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 02:21:33 GMT)
I have a stressful job and am just thankful if I can keep it or not experience any stress on a given day. Sometimes i look at my bank balance and am happy i saved a bit. However, I support myself and have no other support - have a hard time making friends. "Dating" is out of the question. I know someday I will be ill and no one will take care of me. I'll age and have a chronic illness at some point, in which case I'll be horribly depressed because no one will look after me. I see this as a future I can't avoid being from the US, and the US has no safety net for old alone people. The current system will be crap by retirement age. How do I avoid the above fate? I think I will kill myself if that happens - I really don't want to, so I need to drastically change my outlook on reality today, since I can't avoid the inevitable. I dread the future because i know someday i will be completely alone & ill and no one will take care of me. How can i be happy TODAY knowing this.....any philosophies or worldviews that will help?

Voting Question: what can they be charging 7,000 a month on?
(Sun, 14 Mar 2010 18:31:22 GMT)
so, this is a paragrapgh from an article I read earlier. it doesn't make sense that they charge 7,000 a month on their credit cards . they say that if they can't pay the balance off each month, they will do without food. they're not charging their meals on credit or what? what is more important that food and shelter? and how is 7,000 to 10,000 in credit card debt such a big deal for someone that clearly makes good income /(seeing they charge 7,000 a month and only have 7,000-10,000 in debt) my mother is in 20,000 in debt and only makes 12,000 a year..... article: Ever make a totally committed promise to use credit cards wisely? It may be time you did. Marcia Noyes and her husband of Golden, Colo., regularly held credit card balances between $7,000 and $10,000. "We used to pay just the minimums," says Noyes "even though we were wallowing in debt." A stroke of good fortune was the catalyst they needed to make an abrupt change with how they dealt with credit: Her husband's early retirement package enabled them to pay down the debt all at once. "We made a vow right then that we would never again pay the minimum on any credit cards," she says. "Now we use the cards instead of them using us." The couple charges about $7,000 per month but then pays the bill off. Noyes admits that staying on track isn't always easy, but that vow is sacred, saying, "We'll do without food before we don't pay a credit card in full." Today, they track every penny and have perfected their money management routine. "Once you get out of the minimum payment habit," assures Noyes, "it becomes a way of life."
